Hilton Rose Hall Resort

Our final all inclusive holiday resort during our time in Jamaica was Hilton Rose hall in Montego bay. Chosen for price and facilities. Along with overall positive reviews.

Our room

We arrived on a cloudy day in November and were upgraded to a room which was right near the lifts where it got noisy some nights. As a family with children it wasn't ideal.

The room featured two solid. Sturdy. Double beds. Raised high. With four clean. Fluffy pillows on each bed. I was relieved that the pillows were clean. You wouldn't believe the amount of places we stayed at in Jamaica. That has filthy pillows hidden beneath pillowcases.

The ceilings in our upgraded suite were quite low. With a small bathroom. Featuring a basic bath and over bath shower. Our suite at the Hilton Rose hall Montego Bay also included a small. Simple balcony. With beautiful views of their on site golf course. Palm trees and ruin of an old 1867 aquaduct. A small section of the beach could also be appreciated from our hotel suite.

The balcony was a gorgeous place to sit for breakfast each morning and during the warm winter evenings. Where we enjoyed the sight of bat's flying directly in and out of a nearby tree.

All in all our suite was a very simple hotel room. I didn't like the way the hotel rooms were crammed so close to one another. With rows of balconies in arms reach. All stacked one on top of the other. It could have made for a very impersonal experience. Had the Hilton Rose hall been busy with guests.

The facilities

Regardless of a few discrepancies. I feel the Hilton Rose Hall all inclusive resort should receive a five star rating. Instead of it's official four stars.

The facilities at the Hilton Rose hall were delightful. Let's talk about the beautiful golf course first. The cinnamon Hill golf course is directly on the grounds of the Hilton Rose hall hotel. With ability for guests to play a round. Including caddy hire. At extra cost.

The cinnamon Hill golf course is a beautiful place for a stroll. Or taking photographs. An old aquaduct ruin is within the golf course. Here we enjoyed our own mini photoshoot.

Hammocks are dotted around the premises and the golf course is also aligned by the sea.

Hilton hotel Rose hall, has a large pool with sun loungers for all ages to enjoy. The four star resort also has its own. Private beach front and pier. With a VIP members only beach section. Plus facilities for water sports.

The beachfront was quite narrow. I probably wouldn't have enjoyed it as much. Outside this global pandemic. We're all currently dealing with.

The Hilton could have easily become overcrowded. Which is not to my taste. However, due to circumstances. We were often able to enjoy the sand and sea all to ourselves!

Over at the other pool. Suitable only for children aged four and up. There were pool games and music for the best part of each day.

The lazy river and sugar Mills waterpark were impressive features at the Hilton Rose hall. With fun watersides for adults and older children. Large. Inflatable rings to drift down the lazy river. With different water features to surprise you around each bend.

Also at the Hilton Rose hall. Are two public Jacuzzis. One of which. Is designed to look like a natural rock pool, built into a cave. With water streaming down overhead.

What's great about this Jacuzzi is its small. Intimate size. So you won't have to worry about sharing it with others. The water in this jacuzzi is really quite hot. Therapeutic. Perfect to relax in. During the cooler. Cloudier moments. Prevalent this time of year in Montego bay.

The kids and teens clubs stayed closed due to covid. However. There were board games available. Table tennis. Tennis courts, and a playground. With climbing frames. Swings and a slide. Which our sons enjoyed whilst we had a romantic moment to ourselves in the nearby jacuzzi.

Speaking of romance. There was the optional candle melt massage for two. Or beach cabana with drinks service. At additional costs.

On my last day at the Hilton Rose hall resort in Montego bay. I enjoyed a thirty minute massage. I've had the pleasure of a few massages. All with their own unique style, and I'm glad to report. The massage by the spa treatment team at Hilton Montego bay, was very relaxing.

There's the option to enjoy your massage in the spa. Or in a cabin just behind the beach. I chose the wooden beach cabin for my massage. It has a ceiling fan. Plus windows that open out onto the sea. The sound of waves crashing up against the shore. The rustling of the palm trees. Paradise!

Such unique facilities. Made my decision to choose Hilton. Over the numerous other rose hall resorts nearby easy. Hilton-Jamaica

The food

Even in a pandemic. There were a number of bars and restaurants available at the Hilton montego bay resort. So we never had to go far for our next treat. We had plenty of choice. Even though some places were closed. Or running a reduced service.

With an outdoor ice cream hut. Which annoyingly served undesirable Ice-creams. Kids are easily pleased though. So they loved it.

A cafe for coffee. Serving sandwiches and pastries. Including cakes and cookies until late. The cakes. The pastries and the hot drinks were all just ok. The cookies were probably the best item on the menu.

Around the resort. Some of what they claimed to have on the menus was not available. Especially frustrating for vegans and vegetarians such as I. Who are already limited.

I really enjoyed the complimentary room service feature. On occasion. It meant we were able to let the kids stay in and eat dinner. Whilst we snuck away to enjoy a moment to ourselves. However, the dinner room service menu was not so great. With much more variety and fresher options available at the restaurants.

We enjoyed a table for two at Luna culinary creations. Which was dimly lit. We enjoyed the live pianist. Only steps from our room upstairs. I wanted to really enjoy the place. However, our portions were small and food not very interesting.

As much as we enjoyed the free room service facility. Orders can arrive wrong. Or missing things like condiments. On occasion.

The room service breakfast was impressive. But remember to ask for things like salt. Sugar and Ketchup. We enjoyed exotic fruit salads. French toast with maple syrup. Hash browns and much more options available to indulge in as part of the all inclusive package.

In fresh - the main buffet style restaurant. I enjoyed some unforgettable meals. Including unique offerings, such as soursop salad dressing. Seaweed and a beetroot salad with orange.

At the Hilton Rose hall I also had the best ever mash potato. A sweet potato mash that was served hot. With the perfect sweet to savoury ratio and so Creamy.

One of the best desserts I've ever had was the lychee cake at the Hilton Rose hall. With real lychee pieces inside! Their guava cheesecake was a dream too.

The poolside restaurant mangoes. Served one of my all time favourite dishes, and they did it well. A roti wrap with curry. A dish native to Trinidad, and I am partly Trinidadian! It came served with fresh fries and some tasty mango chutney.

Hospitality

Having stayed at a total of five all-Inclusive resorts during our two month trip to Jamaica. I would say that overall. The Hilton was the best for hospitality. Many members of staff spoke to us and catered for us in what felt like a sincere fashion. Not because they were trying to upsell, or get an extra tip.

Final thoughts

The Hilton Rose hall Montego bay. Draws in first place with Bahia Principe on the food front. However, Hilton Montego bay wins first place for hygiene. The Covid hygiene was the best we had seen. With cleaning staff stationed on the stairs and by the lifts at all times. Cleaning constantly in public spaces. I mean, we didn't see one cockroach anywhere! If you've read about my other Jamaica experiences. You'll understand.

One of my only major complaints about the Hilton Rose hall resort. Is their scam child fees. When you book online. You have the option to choose children up to age 17 as child occupants.

However. Only after you have booked. You will see small print that mentions that children over a certain age incur a hefty extra nightly fee at the hotel upon check in. It's done in such a crafty way. Usually a hotel won't allow you to select an age for children in the drop down menu. If they're to pay an adult rate. You should have a right to know the total cost of your stay in advance of booking.

Entertainment

At the Hilton you can expect to enjoy live poolside entertainment by day. With live music or DJ's on stage during the night. Plus a live pianist at Luna Culinary Creations restaurant. The live pianist was my favourite entertainment act of the three.
