The Tower Hotel Review
I enjoyed a brief overnight solo stay at the Tower Hotel. With up close views of iconic Tower Bridge. The Tower Hotel is a four star London Riverside hotel by guoman.
View from my hotel room at the Tower hotel |
The Tower hotel has a casual on site restaurant called Vicinity and bar called Xi. The main attraction of the Tower Hotel is the impressive view of Tower bridge and the Thames River.
All rooms at the Tower Hotel offer views of the surrounding waterside and City buildings. However only the standard with bridge view. Executive with bridge view. Or a suite provide striking views of Tower bridge. My hotel room was the standard with bridge view. The Tower Hotel is a very basic hotel. With very basic hotel rooms. It's only saving grace is the stunning view of Tower bridge. Which provides a beautiful backdrop both day and night.
The price is really reasonable. Especially for the location. Facilities are however old and dated. I feel that the Tower Hotel would be more of a three star than four. If it weren't for its spectacular position.
My hotel room had three mirrors. One of which was full length. In the bathroom a narrow bath over the shower. Visibly old and stained. There was no minibar. No kettle and the rooms are not soundproof.
Carpets were Stained and musty. With stains present in other areas of my room too. Breakfast was drab. Consisting of a full cooked English and a few pastries.
The bed was quite spacious and very comfortable.
Bellini and Eaton mess |
The restaurant Vicinity has indoor and outdoor seating. Service throughout the hotel was just ok. I ordered a bellini at vicinity and was not impressed. I've had a few bad bellinis before but I literally struggled to finish this one. When done right it's a delicious drink.
I had a pizza for dinner which was easily forgettable. Definitely not a fresh stone baked pizza.
View from my hotel room at dusk |
My Eaton mess dessert at vicinity was the only delicious thing I tried from the Tower Hotel.
My husband joined me for a late lunch and his veg stir fry noodles weren't too good. The sesame seeds were not even toasted and it makes a difference to the taste.
Room service |
All in all I would recommend a stay here. Purely because of the views at both the restaurant and in the hotel rooms. It would be a romantic choice because of the iconic location. Especially if you bring your own flowers. Champagne and chocolates.
