Lunch at the Ivy

The Ivy review

I was booked to dine on the terrace at the immensely popular the ivy restaurant.

Tower bridge branch in London for lunch.

Passionate spritz

With no idea whether the weather would be at its best.

Thankfully, when the afternoon arrived. It was one of the hottest days of summer this year.

We were seated alfresco on the patio terrace at the Ivy Tower bridge in South London.

Cream tea

The terrace is in the shade. Where it's a bi too shaded. With less of a view of Tower bridge from our seating position than I'd hoped for.

Service was with a smile. With warm friendly staff throughout.

To drink, I ordered the candy Floss fizz. Prepared with some cute candyfloss on the side of the glass.

Cheese souffle

It features prosecco. Laniqure Rose petal liqueur. Lychee. Ginger and rum. It was a sweet but strong tasting beverage.

The cocktail concept of candy Floss fizz is cute and I liked the taste.

I also tried the passionate spritz cocktail. Available on the A la carte menu.

It's a passion fruit vodka with prosecco. Which did not dissapoint.

To eat, I enjoyed a cream tea. Available daily after 3pm. With warm. Fresh scones. Strawberries. Jam and clotted cream.

Candy Floss fizz

My tea of choice. Rosebud oolong was not available. So I opted for a basic English breakfast tea, which wasn't nice.

I also had a cheese souffle. Which had lots of visual appeal and lots of truffle shavings.

However, it didn't quite deliver in the taste department.

The Zuchinni fritti aka Courgette fries were really nice. Served with a lemon. Chilli and mint sauce. With a tangy yoghurt base.

One of the only vegetarian mains on the A la carte menu at the Ivy is the Chargrilled halloumi.

Served with farro grains. Crushed artichoke. Hazelnuts. Mushrooms. Black truffle and a plant based sauce. It was not an enjoyable dish.

All in all I Love the location of this branch of the Ivy. Just the European menu is not to my taste.

Zuchinni fritti

I prefer the food at Ivy Asia. As I can appreciate more flavour in my meals.

The alcoholic drinks menu at the Ivy is lengthy and separated into different sections.

Including 8 gin and tonic options. Featuring the ivy special g&t, which includes notes of lavender.

Wine lovers will be happy here. As the wine menu has over 100 options to choose from!

Tip : try to get a seat upstairs by the windows in the Ivy. For the best views of Tower Bridge.

I will update this review when I return to the Ivy for a dessert and some more cocktails.
