Christmas drinks

Best for that Christmas feeling

In terms of feeling super festive. Miracle bar the Christmas popup takes first place. In a very cheesy. Slightly overdone way.

This snug bar is hidden upstairs at DA Henrietta. In London's Covent Garden. It's a shrine to all things Christmas.

With totally retro decorations. Plus non-stop Christmas songs. Staff even wear Santa hats as they mix and serve up Christmas cocktails.

It's a nostalgic bar that made me feel like I was at my Christmas obsessed nanas house in the nineties!

I love the festive play on words at Miracle bar. With two shots available on their menu. Perfectly titled the naughty shot and the nice shot.

Their selection of ten cocktails includes warm beverages. Like mulled wine. With each drink arriving in different Christmas themed glasses.

Miracle Bar London Popup Review

On my pre-booked visit to miracle bar. I chose the christmapolitan. A cocktail which included spiced cranberry sauce and was probably the only cocktail on the menu that doesn't arrive in a Christmas themed cup.

My husband chose Santa's Little helper. A cocktail that comes in a tall tumbler. With reindeer on the glass and a tiny koala bear in a festive hat on the straw.

Santa's little helper contains eucalyptus and sage among its ingredients.

My second drink of choice at Miracle bar was hot. Buttered rum. A very comforting drink. Presented in a winking Santa Claus mug.

This drink tasted like an adult horlicks. Or a watered down bailey's. Topped with cinnamon. It's a good choice for the end of the night.

Definitely book in a visit to miracle. A Christmas themed popup bar at next Christmas season.

Tis the perfect place to don your ugly Christmas jumper - if you're after some casual. Festive fun.

Best for tasty cocktails and party vibes

If, like me. You seek a more upscale bar. Need your cocktails sweet and want to get dolled up for a glam. Yet unpretentious round of Christmas cocktails. 100 Wardour Street is my top suggestion.

Each and every cocktail on their limited edition Christmas menu is a hit. Complete with a live dj and space for disco dancing as well as drinking.

I couldn't quite decide on my favourite drink at 100 Wardour Street. As you'll see when you click here to read my dedicated blog post on disco Christmas at 100 Wardour Street.

Best for Christmas decor

If you seek to be blown away by the visuals at your Christmas cocktail venue of choice. Than you'll be suited to either 34 Mayfair or Daphnes. Both have equally spectacular decorations.

With pretty Christmas baubels, hanging overhead in abundance. The Christmas cocktail menu at 34 Mayfair is in partnership with Monkey 47 gin.

It sees the likes of a black forest spritz cocktail. Inspired by the classic dessert.

Whilst over at Daphnes in Chelsea. There's a Tuscan Christmas cocktail menu. In partnership with Malfy gin. Featuring a Truffle martini and snow globe cocktails.

Tips for making your own Christmas cocktails

If you're looking to add a festive touch to your Christmas party this year, why not try making your own Christmas cocktails? Here are some tips to help you get started:

1. Choose your base spirit.

Gin, vodka and rum are all popular choices for Christmas cocktails.

2. Pick your mixers.

Think about what flavours you want in your cocktail and choose mixers accordingly. For example, if you want a fruity drink, consider using fruit juices or cordials.

3. Get creative with garnishes.

A sprig of holly or a candy cane can really make a Christmas cocktail look festive.

4. Make ahead where possible.

Cocktails can be time-consuming to make, so it's helpful to prepare as much as possible in advance.

This could include making syrups or infusions, or pre-mixing batches of drinks so all you have to do on the day is top them up with sparkling water or soda.

Traditional Christmas Cocktails

Hot Toddy

A hot toddy is a traditional winter cocktail made with whiskey, honey, lemon, and hot water. This warming drink is the perfect way to take the chill off on a cold winter night.

To make a hot toddy, start by combining whiskey, honey, and lemon juice in a mug. Then, top off the mug with hot water and give it all a stir.

If you like, you can garnish your hot toddy with a cinnamon stick or a slice of lemon.

So what are you waiting for? Curl up by the fire with a cozy blanket and enjoy a delicious hot toddy!

Irish coffee

Irish coffee is a classic Christmas cocktail and one of the most popular drinks in London during the festive season.

There are many variations of this drink, but the basic recipe is simple: coffee, Irish whiskey, sugar and cream.

If you want to try making your own Irish coffee, start with a good quality coffee. I recommend using a dark roast coffee for this cocktail. As it will stand up well to the strong flavor of the whiskey.

Once you have your coffee, add a shot (or two) of Irish whiskey. Like Jameson or Bushmills, but any good quality Irish whiskey will do.

Add a tablespoon of sugar and stir until dissolved. Finally, top with fresh cream and enjoy!
