New found Luxury in Battersea
Spending a day at Battersea is an exciting new prospect. Thanks to the newly renovated battersea Power Station.
From the 1930s to 1980s, Battersea Power Station was a working Power Station. At its peak, it was producing a fifth of London’s power, supplying electricity to some of London’s most recognisable landmarks. Such as the Houses of Parliament and Buckingham Palace.
Battersea Power Station has since been converted into a brand new shopping destination. Filled with both the high end and high street brands we know and love.
Aside from the clothing stores and luxury retailers at the newly reopened Battersea Power Station. There's also an exciting new excursion called lift 109.
I recently enjoyed a jam packed evening in Battersea. Just in time to check out battersea light festival. A free art installation taking place until March 5th 2023.
The battersea Power Station light Festival is back for its third year. Featuring eight spectacular pieces of artwork, curated in partnership with Light Art Collection. Which will be on display both outdoors and inside the iconic Grade II* listed Power Station.
Alongside Electric Boulevard, a new pedestrianised high street for London. The outdoor installations will be switched on from 8am until 11pm daily, with the installations inside switching off at 10pm.
Alongside the installations, visitors can enjoy some great food huts and trucks. Plus a round of crazy golf. Happy hour and food discounts at selected restaurants. Visit www.batterseapowerstation.co.uk for more details.
My visit started off with beautiful views of the Riverside. Adjacent to the power station. With the outdoor light displays. It was dusk when I arrived and the landscape only looked better and better as the night progressed.
Heading inside to the shopping centre. I enjoyed a glass of rose champagne at Searcys Rolls Royce. A popup bar on the ground floor of battersea shopping centre. Where a beautiful vintage rolls Royce car is on display. Filled with Searcys Champagne bottles. Including some of their limited edition blanc de blancs.
Excellent service was experienced and after some bubbles we took a quick look inside the power of place exhibition. Searcys at Battersea powerstation is situated right next to the power of place exhibition.
This free self-guided pop-up exhibition charts the decades of creativity and development proposals of the Grade II* Listed Power Station from its closure in 1983 to its restoration and opening in October 2022. With mini figurines of the powerstation and even plans that did not come to pass.
Afterwards. We headed upstairs to lift 109 - the unique lift experience inside battersea Power Station. It was such an informative and exciting experience to travel up one of the powerstation chimneys in a round glass chamber.
You suddenly arrive at the top to a stunning panoramic view of London. It made everyone gasp.
Named 109 because you are literally 109 metres up. So much of London can be seen from up here. It really is impressive and something you have to experience first hand.
After the lift 109 experience, we enjoyed a meal at Spanish. Riverside restaurant Tapas Brindisa. With an extensive range of Spanish wines from a number of regions. I opted for a glass of vermut. To eat we enjoyed some fresh salads. Potatoes and chicken. I can imagine a dreamy date on their Riverside terrace in warmer months. Dessert was a chocolate and orange mousse.
The night was still young after our dinner at Tapas Brindisa. With a stroll around the outdoor light displays and the rainbow colours lighting up the Riverside walkway.
Our final stop was Battersea Art'otel. Brand new for Battersea and with one of the most stunning rooftop swimming pools in all of London!
So as you can see. There's just so much to experience in Battersea and the newly converted powerstation.
