Yaz Restaurant Review
Yaz is a Mediterranean restaurant in Chingford, East London. Open for breakfast. Lunch and dinner. With live music and djs on Fridays and Saturdays.
As soon as you arrive at Yaz, you'll find a perfect outdoor backdrop waiting for your pictures.
I had dinner there on a Friday evening to the sound of a live jazz singer and band. As I entered the two storey restaurant and bar I was greeted warmly by staff.
The menu is a mouthwatering mix of options. With the majority of dishes of a Turkish cuisine. Like Borek. Mixed meat kebab and baclava dessert. There are also burger. Steak and pasta options.
To the back of the restaurant a busy open kitchen adds to the lively atmosphere. With massive flames witnessed from busy chefs from time to time.
For starters, I ordered the popcorn chicken and I'm so glad I did! This dish is beautifully presented and generously sized. It was labelled as one of the highly recommended chef specials.
The head chef at Yaz is a master of the grill and always experimenting to create a new twist on traditional Mediterranean inspired dishes.
Popcorn chicken is a unique dish that exceeded expectations. When I think of popcorn chicken I imagine the KFC version.
However, the popcorn chicken starter at Yaz features perfectly battered chicken tempura strips. Saturated in the tastiest sauce. All positioned on top of freshly cooked, savoury popcorn. It's a dish that works really well.
Complimentary warm. Soft bread is also offered to each table. With the most delicious Truffle butter. Plus chilli and garlic dips.
My friend chose the prawns starter, which looked delicious, but was a much smaller option than the popcorn chicken.
To drink, I ordered a Lychee martini, which is served with a luxurious finish of glimmering gold leaf.
For my main I decided on another chef special dish. The wrap beyti lamb. It arrived beautifully presented just like the starter before. Kofte beyti is wrapped in mini chargrilled buttered tortillas on a bed of
spiced tomato sauce & garlic yogurt.
Dessert was a decadent chocolate bombe. Moist sponge with a warm molten chocolate center. The lotus cheesecake that my friend opted for was also delicious.
