The Independent hotel award show took place on the 16th October at Olympia in Kensington London.

A panel of judges had the tough decision of whittling down 111 establishments to the final 8.

Atlantic Hotel, Jersey 


Jersey’s Atlantic Hotel stands out as one of the nation's top independent hotels, with an impressive track record. This includes over 50 years of ownership by a father-and-son team, exceptional customer service, a loyal base of returning guests, and the renowned Ocean Restaurant boasting 4 AA rosettes.

As the sole representative of Small Luxury Hotels of the World in the Channel Islands and a recent addition to Pride of Britain Hotels, The Atlantic is owned and operated by esteemed hotelier and Master Innholder, Patrick Burke. 

Maintaining high standards is Patrick's primary focus, and he holds all 60+ members of The Atlantic "family" to this same expectation of professionalism.

The Atlantic prides itself on being a responsible employer and has recently achieved accreditation as a Living Wage Jersey Employer, making it the first hotel on the island to do so.

The Atlantic has embarked on a journey towards a greener future by partnering with leading certification body, EarthCheck. They proudly achieved Benchmarked Bronze Status in 2022 and are working towards attaining Silver by the end of 2023.

Furthermore, The Atlantic has recently introduced a new initiative in partnership with Rewild Carbon. This programme seeks to counteract carbon in the environment by rewilding endangered ecosystems within Brazil's Atlantic forest. 

As part of this effort, each guest is presented with the opportunity to offset their carbon footprint by making a suggested donation for every night they stay at their establishment.

Jonathan Raggett, CEO of The Red Carnation Hotel Collection (Red Carnation Hotels), was also recognised for his Outstanding Contribution to the sector and to the next generation of hospitality professionals.
